HireArt is helping an on-demand, autonomous ride-hailing company find a Sustaining Engineer to support key chassis subsystems across both the in-service fleet and vehicles in current production.

About the role

In this role, you'll lead root cause investigations, develop corrective actions, and make subsystem-level technical decisions for steering, suspension, and braking systems. You'll guide changes through design, validation, release, and fleet implementation while prioritizing work based on safety, reliability, fleet uptime, and production impact.

  • Own sustaining engineering and corrective action development for chassis systems across the in-service fleet and current production vehicles, from root cause confirmation through fleet-wide implementation.
  • Drive end-to-end resolution of field and manufacturing issues affecting steering, suspension, and braking systems.
  • Use fleet and production data, including mean time between failures, repeat failure rates, and downtime drivers, to prioritize work and validate improvements.
  • Lead design updates and system improvements that enhance safety, durability, reliability, manufacturability, and serviceability.
  • Author and manage engineering change requests and change actions.
  • Develop and execute validation plans at the component, subsystem, system, and vehicle levels.
  • Lead retrofit and rework campaigns and partner with suppliers to resolve quality issues and improve reliability.
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, quality, service, and operations teams to implement effective technical solutions.
  • Travel occasionally, up to 10%.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field
  • 6+ years of experience with chassis systems in product development, manufacturing, or sustaining engineering
  • Experience developing subsystem-level corrective actions that improve reliability, durability, manufacturability, or serviceability
  • Experience with root cause analysis, DFMEA, and product and process validation
  • Strong communication and technical documentation skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to travel occasionally, up to 10%

Preferred Qualifications

  • A master’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field
  • Experience with autonomous vehicles, robotics, or electric vehicle systems
