About the role
The role involves investigating and resolving issues impacting fleet performance across OEM vehicle systems and integrated autonomous vehicle hardware. You will work closely with various teams to identify root causes, implement corrective actions, and improve vehicle reliability and uptime.
Responsibilities
- Investigate and resolve issues affecting fleet availability across OEM vehicle systems and integrated AV hardware.
- Drive end-to-end issue resolution, including troubleshooting, root cause analysis, corrective action development, validation, and fleet implementation.
- Lead reliability and serviceability improvements across electrical and mechanical vehicle systems.
- Support retrofit campaigns, rework activities, installation trials, and field issue triage in partnership with service, test, manufacturing, and operations teams.
- Partner with engineering teams to validate and implement design updates that improve vehicle performance, durability, and maintainability.
- Analyze fleet data, telemetry, technician feedback, reliability metrics, and failure trends to identify improvement opportunities and validate corrective actions.
- Support engineering change activities, validation testing, and fleet trials as needed.
- Travel domestically as needed to support fleet operations and engineering activities.
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related discipline; a master's degree is preferred.
- 5+ years of experience supporting electrical and mechanical systems within sustaining engineering, product development, manufacturing support, reliability engineering, or related environments.
- Experience performing root cause analysis, validation testing, and implementing engineering improvements on complex hardware systems.
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills across vehicle, electrical, and mechanical subsystems.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams in engineering, manufacturing, service, or operations environments.
- Strong communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work onsite five days per week in Foster City.
Bonus Qualifications
- Experience with EV architectures, high-voltage systems, or autonomous vehicle platforms.
- Experience supporting robotics, aerospace, industrial equipment, or other highly integrated hardware systems.
- Familiarity with Toyota or OEM vehicle development and release processes.
- Experience using Python, SQL, Databricks, Vector CANalyzer, or similar tools for telemetry, log analysis, and diagnostics.
- Experience with CATIA or other 3D CAD platforms.
- Familiarity with DFMEA, Design for Manufacturing (DFM), or Design for Service (DFS) methodologies.
