Sustainability Engineer II (Posting for UNMC Employees Only)

About the role

The Sustainability Engineer will collaborate on campus-wide decarbonization and emissions reductions initiatives. Priority given to reducing carbon emissions while balancing environmental, financial, and operational priorities such as life cycle cost savings, resilience, and energy reliability. This role focuses on optimizing energy systems, integrating renewable solutions, sustainable procurement, and sustainable landscaping to enhance campus resilience, efficiency and environmental stewardship.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement carbon reduction strategies
• Analyze building performance
• Support infrastructure projects
• Collaborate on the design and management of renewable energy projects
• Ensure alignment with institutional goals through data-driven improvements and performance verification
• Collaborate with key stakeholders within the Integrated Services Division and external partners

Qualifications

• Expertise in energy systems, renewable integration, sustainability reporting
• Strong analytical and project management skills
