Sustainability Analyst (New York)
About the role
Sustainable Fitch is currently seeking an Analyst based out of our New York Office. Working at Sustainable Fitch provides the opportunity to engage with sustainability-focused financial analysis within a globally recognized ratings organization.
Responsibilities
- Understand and apply Sustainable Fitch’s analytical methodologies and become familiar with the company’s approach to assessing the sustainability impact associated with a broad range of financial and/or nonfinancial corporate business activities.
- Carry out and deliver high-quality, timely, focused written analysis on a suite of products related to the sustainability characteristics and performance of entities and debt issuances. Output should be supported by well-constructed arguments, backed by verified factual data.
- Work alongside peers, monitoring a portfolio of companies on a daily basis.
- Keep up to date with sustainability trends globally, both regulatory and sector specific.
- Interact with colleagues globally to leverage knowledge, gain international experience, and establish good working relationships.
Requirements
- Minimum one to three years’ experience in sustainability and knowledge/application of current sustainability market themes and regulation, as well as international taxonomies for sustainable activities.
- Basic financial literacy. Capable of working with data.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills and good attention to detail and comfortable working with and drawing conclusions from data.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word).
- Strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Self-starter that shows initiative and know-how to manage and prioritize his/her time.
Qualifications
- Degree in a discipline with a technical background related to any environmental science, social risk or governance-themed disciplines, or economics/business/finance.
Skills
- Passion for sustainability and related topics, and knowledge of international taxonomies, in particular the EU Taxonomy, and international guidelines / standards, such as the OECD Guidelines and the UN Global Compact.
- Financial flair and a keen interest in credit, fixed income and industry analysis with certain understanding of financial statements.
- Experience in analyzing or working in the financial institution industry.
- Intellectual curiosity and a keen interest in responsible investing and sustainable finance.
- Command of another language in addition to English and Spanish, with a preference for Portuguese.

Pay
Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $70,000 and $80,000 per year. Actual salaries will be determined on an individualized basis and may vary based on factors including but not limited to education, training, experience, past performance, and other job-related factors. Base pay is one part of Fitch’s total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, long-term incentives, and other benefits sponsored by Fitch.
