About the role

We are looking for motivated Sushi Cooks (part-time and full-time positions available) to enhance our kitchen team. As a Sushi Cook, you have a passion for food and hospitality, a commitment to excellence, and a desire to learn and grow. Day and night, you create culinary masterpieces alongside your team to create unforgettable dining experiences for our guests.

Responsibilities

  • Develop your culinary skills and create food you’re proud of, whether you’re new to the kitchen or experienced.
  • Uphold Earls' standards through exceptional food production, ensuring consistent quality control and safety.
  • Foster team collaboration by contributing to a connected and committed kitchen environment.
  • Take responsibility for the cleanliness and safety of your station, maintaining high kitchen standards.
  • Express your passion for hospitality through excellent execution, product knowledge, and a commitment to the guest experience.
  • Prepare high-quality sushi dishes, including nigiri, sashimi, rolls, and specialty items, ensuring top-tier presentation and taste.
  • Manage the sushi station, maintaining cleanliness, organization, and adherence to health and safety standards.
  • Collaborate with kitchen staff and management to refine menu offerings and introduce new ideas.
  • Maintain sushi ingredients, ensuring freshness and minimizing waste.
  • Train and mentor junior kitchen staff as needed.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1-2 years of professional experience as a Sushi Cook in a high-volume, high-quality sushi restaurant.
  • Extensive knowledge of sushi preparation techniques, including knife skills, fish butchery, rice preparation, and plating.
  • Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation practices, particularly with raw fish and seafood.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and high standards.
  • Creativity and passion for sushi with a commitment to continuous learning and innovation.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • A commitment to fostering a supportive and engaging experience for your team members and guests.
  • A willingness to learn and an openness to feedback, coaching, and mentorship.
  • Certification(s) to responsibly work in and create a safe and clean environment for food production and consumption (ie: State Specific Food Handlers Card) is a bonus.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • The ability to legally work in the USA.
