About the role
A Sushi Chef at Cinemark will prepare all types of sushi in front of guests at the sushi bar, ensuring a fun and inviting experience. This role requires high energy, an outgoing personality, and a quality-driven team player with a strong desire to pursue culinary arts or prior restaurant experience.
Responsibilities
- Prepare all types of sushi (sashimi, nigiri, maki, classic rolls) according to approved recipes and portion controls.
- Follow and execute daily prep lists.
- Maintain policies and procedures to minimize food waste and theft.
- Clean food preparation area and equipment after each use.
- Present a professional image through proper Cinemark culinary attire.
- Ensure standard operating procedures, safety, and sanitation are consistently achieved.
- Sanitize high-contact areas for employees and guests.
- Properly use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for position-specific tasks.
- Adapt to varying cleaning task frequencies and scopes.
- Monitor and report safety or security issues (e.g., trip hazards, suspicious persons) to management.
- Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Complete basic food handling training and obtain any local/state-mandated certification (e.g., health card, food handler’s permit).
- Team members handling alcohol must complete Safe Alcohol Service training.
- Availability for flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Regular and consistent attendance required.
- Energetic, friendly attitude during shifts.
- Provide excellent guest service.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including verbal and written communication in English.
- Ability to work in a team environment and independently.
- Ability to take and follow direction with a sense of urgency.
- Prior work experience as a Sushi Cook or with sushi products preferred.
- Proficiency in food preparation with knowledge of proper techniques and equipment.
- Ability to clearly explain food preparation, cooking, and serving methods to guests.
- Advanced knife skills are a plus.
Physical and Environmental Requirements
- Frequent bending, kneeling, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Frequent standing, walking, and reaching around the theater.
- Ability to work in a standing position for extended periods.
- Moderate to high noise levels at times.

Pay
Pay range: $12.25 – $14.85 per hour.
