Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and direct work of survey crew for survey projects
- Locate, review, and research job locations for identifying landmarks, physical objects and significant land changes that would affect the survey
- Ability to review, understand, and implement survey execution packets
- Supervise and assist with the work of the survey crew, evaluate priorities, and coordinate and organize the work efforts
- Supervise and assist with the standard of work being performed and derive the necessary field calculations from work completed
- Supervise and assist with the maintenance of instruments and equipment
- Ensure that angles, distances, and other collected information are accurate and conform to regulations and standards
- Consult with survey supervisor / data technician and assist with the final production of work performed
- Review supplied survey evidence, maps, deeds, physical evidence, and other records to obtain data needed for surveys
- Follow methods and procedures for establishing or re-establishing survey control
- Keep accurate notes, records, and sketches to describe work performed and submit daily
- Complete daily logs and collect and review survey crews' weekly timesheets and expense reports
- Adhere to safety requirements (PPE, incident reporting, safe work practice)
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of pipeline surveying experience. Previous Mott MacDonald experience preferred
- Familiarity with commonly used surveying terms and with the use and care of survey tools and other survey field equipment used for measuring, sighting, and leveling
- Proficiency in the operation of survey equipment such as the Total Station Data Collector, level, and various Global Positioning System (GPS) methods
- Familiarity with the latest survey and data collector software
- Ability to download survey data from the data collector and transfer in digital format
- Knowledge in the various methods of surveying long routes in general, and pipelines specifically
- Strong leadership skills, work ethic, and team-player attitude
- Strong technical, documentation, and organizational skills
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
- Use of company issued computer and email services
- Maintain compliance with Mott MacDonald required training
- Must pass pre-employment physical, background check, and drug screen
- Able to walk and climb over rough terrain and withstand working outside for up to 8-12 hours a day and 6 to 7 days per week in varying temperatures
- Able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) (Protective eyewear, gloves, mask) and other safety equipment required by the company guidelines and procedures
- Must be willing and able to acquire CPR / First Aid certification
- Valid driver's license
- Must be willing to travel for extended periods of time
