Key Responsibilites
- Manage multiple land surveying projects, including boundary, topographic, construction staking, and ALTA/NSPS surveys
- Oversee survey field crews and office technicians, providing direction, scheduling, and quality control
- Review and certify survey data, plats, and legal descriptions for accuracy and compliance
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, contractors, and internal engineering teams
- Prepare project proposals, scopes, budgets, and schedules
- Ensure compliance with state and local regulations and surveying standards
- Coincide with civil engineers, planners, and other stakeholders
- Mentor junior staff and support professional development
- Implement and maintain safety standards for field operations
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrated experience managing projects and leading teams
- Strong knowledge of survey equipment, GPS, total stations, and data collection software
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and related surveying software
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Experience with drone/UAS surveying and LiDAR technologies
- Familiarity with Wisconsin DOT standards and municipal requirements
- Business development or client relationship experience
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Surveying, Civil Engineering, or related field
- 5–10+ years of progressive experience in land surveying
Licenses and Certifications
- Valid driver’s license is required
- Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license in Wisconsin (required or ability to obtain within a specified timeframe)
Physical Requirements
- This position requires the ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Be able to walk and climb over rough terrain
PPE Requirements
- Hi-Visibility clothing should be worn on job sites and in the field as necessary.
