Survey Party Chief

Key Responsibilities

• Lead survey field crew on a variety of projects including boundary, topographic, construction stakeout, and as-built surveys.
• Perform field measurements using total stations, GPS, and data collectors.
• Set, recover, and verify survey control points and benchmarks.
• Perform construction layout and verify grades, alignments, and elevations.
• Maintain accurate and organized field notes, sketches, and electronic data.
• Ensure field work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company standards and project specifications.
• Cookordination with office staff regarding schedules, deliverables, and project needs.
• Review field data for accuracy and completeness prior to submission.
• Aid in training and mentoring junior field staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree in a related field preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of field surveying experience, including prior experience leading survey crews.
• Strong knowledge of land surveying principles, procedures, and equipment.
• Proficient in the use of total stations, GPS equipment, and data collectors.
• Ability to read and interpret survey plans, construction drawings, and specifications.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
• Highly attentive to detail and committed to accuracy and quality.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• New Jersey Surveying License is a plus but not required.

Compensation

$31 - $42 per hour commensurate with experience.
