Survey Party Chief

We are partnered with a well-established and growing land surveying firm in Fort Lauderdale that offers long-term stability, diverse project exposure, and career growth. The firm has a strong backlog of work extending more than three years, including participation in a multi-million dollar project in Miami. The workload spans transportation, commercial, municipal, and infrastructure projects.

About the role

The Survey Party Chief will lead field survey crews on boundary, topographic, construction staking, and as-built surveys, ensuring projects are completed safely, accurately, and on schedule.

Responsibilities

• Lead field survey crews on a variety of boundary, topographic, construction staking, and as-built surveys.
• Coordinate daily field activities to ensure projects are completed safely, accurately, and on schedule.
• Operate and maintain survey equipment including total stations, GPS/GNSS, and data collectors.
• Review field data and ensure accuracy and completeness prior to office handoff.
• Communicate effectively with project managers, clients, contractors, and project stakeholders.
• Train and mentor junior field personnel while promoting best practices and safety standards.
• Maintain detailed field notes, records, and documentation throughout project execution.

Requirements

• 5+ years of field surveying experience, preferably in a Party Chief or crew leadership role.
• Strong background in traditional land surveying methods and field procedures.
• Experience performing boundary, topographic, route, and construction surveys.
• Proficiency with modern surveying equipment and data collection technology.
• Ability to read and interpret survey plats, construction plans, and legal descriptions.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
