Responsibilities
- Serve as Survey Party Chief with 4–8 years of land surveying field experience using GPS, robotic total stations, data collectors, and digital levels.
- Operate and maintain survey instruments, including Trimble TSC3, TSC7, or TSC5 data collectors and software (preferred).
- Supervise and guide a two- or three-person survey crew, ensuring accurate and complete field notes and sketches.
- Download and transmit survey data to and from the office.
- Select and implement proper maintenance of traffic signage while following safety precautions.
- Operate a survey truck responsibly, keeping equipment clean and in working condition.
- Participate in monthly safety meetings, identify potential hazards, and create corrective action plans.
- Hold a valid driver’s license and ability to lift 50 pounds, walk for extended periods, and work in all weather conditions.
- Work long days, evenings, weekends, and travel up to 75%, including overnight and extended-stay projects.
- Adhere to project scope, schedule, and budget, ensuring work meets industry standards and client requirements.
- Effectively communicate with clients, contractors, staff, and supervisors to align on project goals.
- Follow OSHA Safety Standards and KCI corporate policies at all times.
- Submit accurate time sheets, mileage, and expense reports weekly.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the survey manager.
Requirements
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant land surveying field experience.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to maintain required certifications (Part 107 Certification preferred).
- Prior experience with DOT survey, SUE projects, and construction layout is a plus.
- Leadership and mentoring skills with a positive, can-do attitude.
- Pre-employment drug screening, background check, and motor vehicle check may be required.
