About the Role
Prudent Engineering is seeking an experienced Mapping Supervisor to lead our growing Mapping/CAD team within the Land Surveying Department. This position is responsible for supervising mapping staff, coordinating project workloads, maintaining quality control, and producing high-quality survey mapping deliverables for transportation, municipal, energy, and private development projects throughout New York State. The ideal candidate is an experienced survey mapping professional with strong technical knowledge of NYSDOT standards and procedures, leadership abilities, and a commitment to deliver quality products on schedule.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and mentor the Survey Mapping/CAD team.
- Assign daily and weekly workloads.
- Monitor staff productivity and project schedules.
- Coordinate staffing needs with the Survey Manager.
- Train and develop junior mapping personnel.
- Conduct quality reviews prior to project delivery.
- Prepare and oversee the production of survey mapping deliverables, including existing conditions, topographic, boundary, ALTA/NSPS land title, right-of-way, acquisition, appropriation, and as-built surveys and maps.
- Manage the development of highway boundary plans, control reports, survey base mapping, utility mapping, and construction stakeout base files to support planning, design, construction, and land acquisition projects.
- Process field survey data.
- Develop survey databases.
- Perform coordinate geometry calculations.
- Process GNSS and Total Station observations.
- Prepare Digital Terrain Models and surface models.
- Create cross sections and profiles.
- Produce final PDF and CAD deliverables.
- Maintain survey and drafting standards.
- Assist with drone and laser scanning data integration.
Requirements
- Minimum 7 years of survey mapping experience.
- Minimum 3 years supervising technical staff preferred.
- Strong understanding of New York State surveying practices and preparing NYSDOT survey deliverables.
- Strong understanding of coordinate systems and survey computations.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Surveying, Engineering Technology, or related field.
- CST Certification.
- FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate.
- Experience with LiDAR and Reality Capture workflows.
- Familiarity with ProjectWise and FileCamp.

Pay
Hourly pay of $36.40. Actual compensation may vary based on work experience, location, market conditions, education/training, certifications, and other credentials, as well as applicable knowledge and skills.
