Survey Instrument Operator

About the role

MasTec Civil is seeking an Instrument Man to join our team in Nashville, TN. You'll be responsible for collecting vital field data and operating high-tech surveying equipment with precision.

Responsibilities

• Uses a variety of land survey instruments to support a crew in their daily operations.
• Aids in completing field surveys under the supervision of a Crew Chief.
• Operates, checks, and performs basic field adjustments on land survey equipment such as tripods, tribraches, levels, total stations, GNSS receivers, data radios/modems.
• Utilizes survey controllers and software to collect geospatial data and perform survey computations.
• Reads and interprets various types of maps and plans.
• Completes neat and orderly field notes for land survey operations with supervision from Crew Chief.
• Keeps Crew Chief informed of problems and progress.
• Loads and unloads trucks with land survey equipment and supplies.
• Cleans and maintains land survey equipment, tools, and vehicles.
• Fulfills company safety procedures for land survey operations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
• A minimum of 1 year of survey experience as Rodman, Instrument Man.
• Ability to understand work directions and communicate effectively with management and fellow employees.
