Survey Instrument Operator

Responsibilities

  • Aid the field supervisor with all aspects of the daily crew workload.
  • Work in a safe manner and adhere to all safety regulations.
  • Supervise the survey crew in the absence of the crew chief.
  • Work independently as a one-person crew when necessary.
  • Daily upload and download data collectors.
  • Daily care and charge instrumentation.
  • Continuously advance knowledge with upgrades in technology.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years of survey experience.
  • High School Diploma (minimum).
  • Good mathematical skills.
  • Good computer and data collector skills.
  • Proficient with Topcon and Trimble survey equipment (GPS, Robotics, Total Stations, Levels, and Data Collectors).
  • Proficient with Carlson SurvCE and Trimble Survey Controller data collection software.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to pass a driving record check.
  • Pass a drug test.
  • Dependable.
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance is a plus.
  • Physically able to work outdoors and on construction sites under all weather conditions and terrain.
  • Ability to stoop, crawl, bend at the knees and waist, squat and lift up to 50 lbs; includes body weight, equipment, tools and boxes, in addition the ability to stand for long periods on varied surfaces.
  • Willing and able to travel for extended periods.
  • Experience with Electric Transmission and Oil and Gas Transmission projects is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Must be physically able to work outdoors and on construction sites under all weather conditions and terrain.
  • Ability to stoop, crawl, bend at the knees and waist, squat and lift up to 50 lbs; includes body weight, equipment, tools and boxes, in addition the ability to stand for long periods on varied surfaces.
  • Must be able to work overtime as required.
  • Must be willing and able to travel for extended periods.

Skills

  • Proficient with Topcon and Trimble survey equipment (GPS, Robotics, Total Stations, Levels, and Data Collectors).
  • Proficient with Carlson SurvCE and Trimble Survey Controller data collection software.
  • Good communication skills.

Benefits

At Dewberry, we provide a competitive salary range of $51,000 - $66,000 annually, depending upon other factors such as skills, experience, location, and market conditions. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
