Responsibilities
- Oversee day‑to‑day field crew operations to provide field data for boundary surveys, topographical surveys, and construction stakeout surveys.
- Train individuals to operate total stations, levels, GPS units, and data collectors for field data collection.
- Establish and set points on construction stakeout projects (curb and gutter, drop inlets, storm sewer, sanitary sewer, waterline, structures, etc.).
- Conduct daily maintenance and upkeep of survey instruments.
- Provide clear and concise field notes, including sketches.
- Oversee maintenance of survey equipment, supplies, and vehicle.
- Work collaboratively in a team environment and independently as needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma/GED; five (5) years of field survey experience preferred.
- Experience with Leica robotic total stations, data collectors, and GPS preferred.
- Ability to obtain and hold a federal security clearance.
- Experience with VDOT transportation surveying a plus.
- Ability to collect, compute, process, and map field data for boundary, topographic, design, and construction staking projects.
- AutoCAD experience a plus.
- Valid VA driver’s license with a good driving record.
- Willingness to travel extensively.
- Physical ability to carry up to 50 lb of equipment over all terrain and perform all‑weather, year‑round outdoor work, including hiking, climbing, and vegetation management.
