The team provides Engineering Design, Land Surveying and Construction Management for both public and private sectors, using expertise and state‑of‑the‑art technology to increase efficiency and accuracy. They support projects from preliminary design and mapping through final design, bid, and construction, and offer construction support via plan clarification and coordination with contractors and field surveyors. Their staff has delivered economical and efficient surveys/designs for numerous boundary/topographic surveys ranging from single‑family residential to large commercial, industrial, and municipal projects.

THD Design Group is seeking an experienced Survey Crew Chief for field operations focused on ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys across the southern United States. This travel‑intensive role is ideal for someone who thrives in the field, enjoys working across diverse geographies, and takes pride in delivering high‑quality, precise survey data. The position requires travel across Alabama, Mississippi, Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, and Oklahoma, serving as the on‑site expert to ensure projects are completed safely, accurately, and efficiently. Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys
• Plan, organize, and execute field survey operations across multiple states
• Operate and maintain survey equipment (GPS, robotic total stations, data collectors, etc.)
• Interpret project requirements, plats, deeds, and legal descriptions
• Ensure accuracy, completeness, and quality of field data collection
• Communicate effectively with project managers, office staff, and clients as needed
• Maintain daily field notes, reports, and documentation
• Travel extensively (multi-state travel required, often weekly)

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience as a Survey Crew Chief
• Strong experience with ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys
• Proficiency with modern survey equipment and software
• Ability to read and interpret survey plans, title commitments, and legal documents
• Strong leadership and crew management skills
• Willingness and ability to travel frequently (up to 75–100%)
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record
• CST certification or equivalent a plus
• Experience working across multiple states or regions a plus
• Knowledge of state-specific survey requirements in TX, LA, OK, AR, MS, and AL a plus
