Survey Crew Chief

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Survey Crew Chief for field operations primarily for ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys across the southern United States. This is a travel-intensive role ideal for someone who thrives in the field, enjoys working across diverse geographies, and takes pride in delivering high-quality, precise survey data.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys
• Plan, organize, and execute field survey operations across multiple states
• Operate and maintain survey equipment (GPS, robotic total stations, data collectors, etc.)
• Interpret project requirements, plats, deeds, and legal descriptions
• Ensure accuracy, completeness, and quality of field data collection
• Communicate effectively with project managers, office staff, and clients as needed
• Maintain daily field notes, reports, and documentation
• Travel extensively (multi-state travel required, often weekly)

Qualifications

• Experienced as a Survey Crew Chief with 3+ years of relevant experience
• Strong experience with ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys
• Proficiency with modern survey equipment and software
• Ability to read and interpret survey plans, title commitments, and legal documents
• Strong leadership and crew management skills
• Willingness and ability to travel frequently (up to 75–100%)
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record
• CST certification or equivalent a plus
• Experience working across multiple states or regions a plus
• Knowledge of state-specific survey requirements in TX, LA, OK, AR, MS, and AL a plus
