About the role

THD Design Group is a comprehensive Survey and Civil Engineering Services company with over 30 years of experience. The team provides Engineering Design, Land Surveying and Construction Management for public and private sectors, using expertise and state‑of‑the‑art technology to deliver projects from preliminary design and mapping through final design, bid, and construction, including construction support via plan clarification and contractor/field surveyor coordination. The Survey Crew Chief will lead ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys across the southern United States, requiring travel in Alabama, Mississippi, Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, and Oklahoma.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys
• Plan, organize, and execute field survey operations across multiple states
• Operate and maintain survey equipment (GPS, robotic total stations, data collectors, etc.)
• Interpret project requirements, plats, deeds, and legal descriptions
• Ensure accuracy, completeness, and quality of field data collection
• Communicate effectively with project managers, office staff, and clients as needed
• Maintain daily field notes, reports, and documentation
• Travel extensively (multi‑state travel required, often weekly)

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience as a Survey Crew Chief
• Strong experience with ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys
• Proficiency with modern survey equipment and software
• Ability to read and interpret survey plans, title commitments, and legal documents
• Strong leadership and crew management skills
• Willingness and ability to travel frequently (up to 75–100%)
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record
• CST certification or equivalent a plus
• Experience working across multiple states or regions a plus
• Knowledge of state‑specific survey requirements in TX, LA, OK, AR, MS, and AL a plus
