Survey Crew Chief

About the role

We are seeking a motivated Crew Chief to join our team in Plano, TX.

Responsibilities

• Set up and complete jobs by supervising field survey crews and directing the flow of work in the field to perform various types of surveys, including construction layout, boundary, and topographic surveys.
• Effectively manage the time of crew(s) to meet project schedules.
• Operate and troubleshoot survey measuring instruments, including levels, GPS equipment, and total stations with electronic data collecting capabilities.
• Provide leadership and training to junior staff to develop skills, including teaching the correct use of equipment, field procedures, and survey control checks.
• Support, provide guidance, and follow company, job, and safety standards to ensure compliance, addressing and correcting issues on time.
• Perform limited office duties, including data reduction, field notes, calculations, data checks, and staking computations using a survey computer.
• Participate in maintaining the office environment and ensure vehicles are in good order.
• Check and submit survey crew time sheets.
• Act as the company contact and survey representative with owners, city employees, pipeline companies, or other clients; gather information, answer questions when able, and refer appropriately.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent GED, or a minimum of 3 years of active field survey work (boundary, topographic, and/or construction) and at least 1 year in a Lead role.
• Experience with Robotic instruments and GPS.
• Valid TX driver’s license and insurable driving record.
• Pass a standard background check and drug test.
