Survey Crew Chief

About the role

The Survey Crew Chief position at McClure supports projects in Fort Dodge and the surrounding areas. The role involves maintaining clear communication with Project Managers and Engineers regarding field work needs.

Responsibilities

• Maintain constant contact with Project Managers and Engineers to define and obtain the scope of field work.
• Train new team members alongside experienced Crew Chiefs if applicable.
• Showcase ability to learn field staking procedures for land surveying, construction staking, and existing conditions survey from past technical experience or construction-related careers.
• Ensure the end result of field work aligns with the finished design and project scope to inform the office of any additional requests.
• Manage earthworks, foundation construction, wall construction, site utilities, and paving projects.
• Maintain a positive attitude and professional demeanor with all staff.
• Multi-task effectively.
• Show knowledge of CAD and other engineering/technical skills, as well as McClure-Drive Standards.
• Use excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office knowledge.
• Resolve conflicts that may arise during survey site visits.
• Show strong understanding and knowledge of civil drawings, construction processes, and construction codes.
• Apply common sense understanding to follow instructions.
• Read and interpret documents.
• Communicate effectively orally and in writing.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of two years related experience preferred, including a technical profession or construction-related background.
• Driver's license required.

Qualifications

Knowledge and full understanding of field staking procedures for land surveying, construction staking, and existing conditions survey.

Knowledge in all aspects of earthworks, foundation construction, wall construction, site utilities, and paving.

Positive attitude and professional demeanor with all staff.

Strong ability to multi-task.

Knowledge of CAD, other Engineering/Technical skills, and McClure-Drive Standards.

Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office knowledge.

Ability to resolve conflicts that may arise while on survey site.

Strong understanding and knowledge of civil drawings, construction processes, and construction codes.
