Survey Assistant
About the role
Giffels Webster has an exciting opportunity for a Field Survey Assistant to join our Detroit Headquarters based Survey Group, working on high-profile projects that are contributing to the revitalization of the City of Detroit as well as a variety of project needs in and around Metro Detroit.
Responsibilities
- Work with Field Survey Crew Chief conducting field visits to coordinate existing site conditions with raw survey data and record information.
- Collaborate with office personnel to ensure collection of data needed to complete surveys meeting the Client’s objectives.
- Keep accurate notes and sketches.
- Aid in a variety of surveying tasks such as topographic surveys, boundary surveys, control surveys, differential leveling, GPS network surveys, construction layout, as-builts, ALTA surveys and grade certificates.
- Collect, import, export, and process field data.
- Take responsibility for care and security of truck and survey equipment.
- Understand and follow company and government safety rules and standards.
- Participate in internal discussions about surveying considerations and lessons learned from our projects.
Requirements
- High school diploma or a technical degree in a related area.
- Valid driver license.
Qualifications
A background in land surveying, carpentry or construction is a plus.
Skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and technical knowledge, problem solving and analytic skills.
