Survey Aide

About the role

T. Baker Smith is seeking motivated Survey Aides to join our teams and work under the direction of the Party Chief to complete the crew’s assigned field survey projects.

Responsibilities

• Assist in operating necessary survey instruments to fulfill project requirements.
• Absorb notes, sketches, and records of survey data obtained.
• Gather necessary equipment and supplies to fulfill project requirements.
• Review project requirements with the party chief.
• Participate in daily job safety analysis.
• Participate in daily tailgate safety meetings.
• Communicate with field operations lead on daily crew assignments.
• Complete safety observation report as required.
• Report incidents to the appropriate personnel.
• Complete incident report as required.
• Communicate effectively and professionally with clients in the field.
• Perform work in a safe and efficient manner.
• Maintain work conditions and responsibly use stop work authority.
• Assist in scheduling routine maintenance on assigned vehicles and equipment.
• Identify and report any equipment failure on work order maintenance form.

Physical Requirements

• Frequent standing, walking, carrying equipment, sometimes through rugged terrain, mud, or swamp.
• Frequent driving and/or riding in a boat.
• Frequent sitting.
• Frequent stooping, kneeling, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Frequent use of hands to operate, handle, maneuver and/or manipulate objects, tools or controls.
• Frequent reaching with hands and arms.
• Frequent use of manual dexterity to operate equipment.
• Frequent talking and hearing.
• Close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus required.

Work Environment

• Generally outdoors and exposed to the weather.
• Frequently exposed to the noise, dust, smells, and other environmental factors present in such situations.
• Nights away from home are required.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Highschool diploma OR its equivalent.
• Attention to detail, accuracy, and excellent interpersonal communication skills.
