About the role
The primary responsibilities for these positions include: Pass surgical instruments in operating room. Maintain strict sterile field, assist/perform surgical case counts. Obtain necessary supplies/instruments for such cases and checks for completeness and working order. Opens room independently or in conjunction with the circulating nurse (depending on case complexity). Sets up and maintains sterile field until the patient exits the room. Maintain a neat and orderly sterile field during each case. Passes instruments to surgeons, anticipating needs. Monitor for breaks in sterile technique and take corrective action when identified. Perform counts in accordance with policy.

Requirements
No related experience required.
Qualifications
- Graduate from a Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) accredited program of surgical technology.
- Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with at least 10 years in a Surgical Technician/Technologist role.
- Completion of a Surgical Technologist Certificate program and certified through American Allied Health (AAH), National Healthcare Workers Association (NHWA), or National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT).
- Certified as a surgical technologist or surgical technologist first assistant by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA).
- Graduate of a military training program (validated with a DD214 or graduation certificate).
- UKHC employee who is already in a Surgical Technician/Technologist role as of 09/17/2016.
Skills
Ability to scrub a variety of surgical cases.

This job may require lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling which is considered “heavy work” (i.e. exerting 50-100 pounds of force occasionally, and 25-50 pounds of force frequently); as well as standing, walking, and sitting for long periods of time. The conditions of work may involve exposure to communicable diseases, the hazards of radiation, and injury from intractable patients or sharp instruments.
Pay
$26.46-34.29/hour

M-F, 7:00am-3:30pm with lates and call
