Surgical Technologist - Full-Time - Operating Room

About the role

Provides assistance to surgeons during surgical procedures across all age groups, ensuring patient safety and proper surgical protocols. Typically performed in a clinical setting, with adherence to policies and standards of care.

Responsibilities

• Assist with surgical procedures, patient care, and coordination among disciplines.
• Practice aseptic techniques, set up instruments, and connect clinical equipment.
• Participate in surgical timeouts, verify surgical site, and maintain accurate supply and specimen documentation.
• Manage wound care, dispose of sharps and linens, and monitor universal precautions.
• Support emergency procedures, patient admission/discharge, and billing.
• Act as a preceptor for students, perform quality control, and handle additional duties like specimen collection and patient transport.
• Ensure all medications and solutions are labeled under RN supervision.

Qualifications

Current certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or eligible under state law; graduate from a specialty training program.

Schedule

On-call rotations and holiday work are required.
