Surgical Technologist Certified | Surgery

Location: Avera Marshall Hospital

Position Highlights

• Certified Surgical Technologist may be eligible for up to a $15,000 sign-on bonus.

Work Schedule

• Primarily day shift: 6:45 a.m.–3:15 p.m., 72 hours per 2 weeks.
• Weekend, holiday, and weekday on-call rotation based on the number of employed Surgical Technicians.

Responsibilities

• Assist surgeons within the scope of competency and standards of practice.
• Utilize infection control and universal precautions techniques.
• Maintain a clean operating room, including washing and sterilizing equipment.
• Rotate in SPD area to clean and sterilize instruments for OR, floors, ER, and clinics.
• Update preference cards to ensure procedures align with surgeon requests.
• Comply with regulatory requirements, policies, procedures, and standards of practice.
• Verify patient identity, operative procedure, operative site, surgeon, and consent.
• Apply and monitor aseptic technique principles throughout the intraoperative period.
• Perform sponge, needle, and instrument counts according to policy.
• Participate in the evaluation of new supplies, equipment, and instruments.
• Prepare the operating room by placing equipment, supplies, and arranging instruments as instructed.

• Ability to work the specified hours.
• Visual acuity and communication skills adequate to perform position duties, including distinguishing speech and other sounds.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an Accredited Surgical Technologist Program (Technical Certificate).
• Certified Surgical Tech (CST) – National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) upon hire.
• OR Tech in Surgery (TS-C) – National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) upon hire.
• Preferred: 1–3 years of surgical experience.

Pay

$25.50 - $38.00 per hour, dependent upon experience.
