Surgical Technologist Certified

About the role

The Surgical Technologist is a member of the health care team who performs technical support in the perioperative period under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) according to accepted clinical standards of care.

Responsibilities

• Prepares equipment, instruments, supplies, operating room, and patients to ensure sterile field.
• Captures or disposes of specimens, etc.
• Aids in inventory of sterile supplies.
• Might assist in patient transport.

Requirements

• Completion of an Accredited Surgical Technology Program OR completion of a military or hospital-based training program with 5 years acute care Surgical Tech experience.
• Surgical Tech Certification from NBSTSA or NCCT.
• Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) with the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent.

Specific Skills

• Knowledge of sterile technique, instrumentation, equipment, and sterile field set-up.
• Interpersonal skills.
