Surgical Subspecialties - Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner

About the role

The successful candidate will be responsible for various functions for the SubSpecialty surgery division including ED consults, responding to Trauma activations, rounding on patients, and first-assisting in OR. Our SubSpecialty Surgical Services team consists of several Advanced Practitioners who care for patients in the following surgical areas: Bariatric, Endocrine, Surgical Oncology, Plastics, Urology, Colorectal and Vascular specialties.

Hartford HealthCare supports Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants in practice with dedicated support through the Office of Advanced Practice directed by Sarah Clark, MBA, MHS, PA-C, BSN, RN, System Director of Advanced Practice. Responsibilities

Under established guidelines and in collaboration and/or supervision with the practice physician(s), Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants perform the following:

• Routine physical examinations
• Formulate medical, educational, and psychosocial plans to treat patients
• Develop plans for further evaluation of health needs in consultation with the physician(s) and care team members (e.g., referral to other health team members or specialists)
• Provide appropriate treatment for problems within the scope of the provider’s practice as designated by protocols
• Identify problems outside of their scope of practice and refer appropriately to physicians

Requirements

• Unrestricted State of Connecticut Medical License (or eligible)
• Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant training
• 1+ year's experience in a surgical setting
• New grad candidates should have experience in a surgical setting in training or previous career

Schedule

• Full-time (40 hours)
• 13-hour shifts
• Occasional Saturdays
• No call schedule
