Surgical Subspecialties Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner

About the role

Join a seasoned Surgical Subspecialties team that prides itself on exceptional teamwork, communication, and provider autonomy. This role offers extensive hands-on surgical experience as a first-assist in the OR, along with responsibility for ED and inpatient consults, admissions, rounding, discharges, and invasive bedside procedures. You'll gain exposure to a diverse case mix spanning General Surgery, Thoracic Surgery, Vascular Surgery, Colorectal Surgery, and Plastic Surgery, including robotic-assisted procedures, vascular interventions, breast reconstruction, thoracic surgery, and more.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine physical examinations under established guidelines and in collaboration and/or supervision with the practice physician(s).
• Formulate medical, educational, and psychosocial plans to treat patients.
• Develop plans for further evaluation of health needs, e.g., referral to other health team members or specialists.
• Provide appropriate treatment for problems within the scope of the provider’s practice as designated by protocols.
• Identify problems outside of their scope of practice and refer appropriately to physician.

Requirements

• Licensure: Unrestricted State of Connecticut Medical License (or eligible)
• Training: Certified or board-eligible Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner
• Experience: 1+ years’ experience as a Physician Assistant in surgery or related setting
