Surgical Short Stay Transporter

About the role

This role safely transports patients in wheelchairs, stretchers or hospital beds in a safe and efficient manner. Working under direct supervision, the Transit Support Specialist responds to requests timely and treats patients and families with care and kindness.

Responsibilities

• Transports patients from one area of the hospital to another, checking their identification information to confirm that the correct person is being transported at the correct time.
• Complies with safety policies and guidelines to ensure that patients are transported safely and within regulation.
• Uses the appropriate Hand-Off tool (Hall Pass, Ticket-to Ride, or other) to document accurately patient status, location and condition.
• Maintains a professional demeanor and provides customer service to assist staff, patients and their families and help answer any pertinent questions about transport.
• Cleans and monitors equipment to find issues that would require the equipment to be replaced or repaired.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 0–1 years of experience in a hospital.
• BLS (CPR) certification from the American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider.
