Position Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing high-quality patient care throughout the surgical experience, including the pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative phases. This role works collaboratively with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and clinical staff to ensure safe, efficient, and compassionate care.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care during the pre-operative, operative, and recovery phases of surgery.
  • Collaborate with physicians, anesthesia providers, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient care.
  • Deliver safe, quality care in accordance with ASC policies, state nursing regulations, and accreditation standards.
  • Assess, monitor, and document patient conditions, responses to treatment, and outcomes.
  • Educate patients and families regarding procedures, medications, recovery expectations, and post-operative care.
  • Foster a compassionate environment by providing emotional support to patients and their families.
  • Maintain a safe and clean clinical environment while adhering to established policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Follow infection prevention protocols, medication administration standards, and controlled substance regulations.
  • Protect patient privacy and maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and organizational policies.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and support a culture of patient safety.

Qualifications

  • Required: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
  • Required: Current Registered Nurse license in the state of employment
  • Required: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • PREFERRED: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification, or ability to obtain within one (1) year of employment
  • PREFERRED: One (1) year or more of nursing experience in a surgical, operating room, ambulatory surgery center, or perioperative setting

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • In Accordance With ADA Guidelines, This Position Requires Physical Activities: Standing for extended periods, stooping, bending, reaching, and grasping, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling, frequent communication and active listening, close visual acuity for patient assessment and clinical tasks
  • Physical Requirements: Medium work: exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 30 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly to move or lift objects
  • Potential Workplace Exposures: Anesthesia gases and agents, Blood and bloodborne pathogens, Communicable diseases, Hazardous waste, Moving mechanical equipment, Sharp instruments and medical devices
