Responsibilities

  • Coordinate, schedule, and provide surgical information to patients.
  • Maintain and update current information on physician schedules to ensure patients are scheduled properly and appointments are confirmed.
  • Handle insurance verification, obtain testing and surgical authorizations, and code for all surgical procedures.
  • Ensure all equipment, labs, medical clearances are ordered, received, reviewed, and patients are notified with a treatment plan in a timely manner to prevent surgical delays.
  • Ensure physicians have all required documentation for surgery based on their protocols.
  • Handle requests for medical information promptly and effectively between departments, hospitals, and surgery centers.
  • Collaborate with other staff to ensure coordinated efforts and high-quality patient services throughout the clinic.
  • Maintain the strictest confidentiality.
  • Stay abreast of and comply with all state and federal laws including HIPAA, ADA, OSHA, and FLSA.
  • Adapt to change in a positive and professional manner.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • At least 1 year of experience in a medical setting.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the public.
  • Knowledge of Outlook and Microsoft Word Processing software.
  • Must be able to talk or hear, stand, walk, sit, and type.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision.
