Surgical Recovery Specialist
About the role
The Surgical Recovery Specialist oversees all organ donor perfusion and organ preservation processes, surgical assisting in our in-house organ recovery center, and is responsible for the intraoperative leadership of a team of medical professionals while managing the recovery process of all solid organs.
Responsibilities
- Facilitation of the donation process through donor management and organ recovery of adult and pediatric patients.
- Surgical set-up, break down and cleaning for in house OR.
- Acting as surgical first assist with recovery of organs for transplant for both abdominal and thoracic organs.
- Organ preservation of thoracic and abdominal organs.
- Acting as operating room experts for in-house as well as at donor hospitals.
- Aiding in the turnover of the operating room after the procedure ensuring recovery suite is cleaned, supplies are stocked, and instrumentation is washed and decontaminated and prepped for sterilization.
Requirements
- An advanced degree of anatomical knowledge, skills and technical expertise in surgical assisting.
- Completion of a Surgical Technologist, ER Technologist, or EMT programs.
- Registered Nurses with OR experience or individuals with previous Organ Preservation experience.
- Knowledge of name and function of surgical equipment and instrumentation.
- Two or more years of operating room experience and/or sterile technique required.
- BLS required within 6 months and Certified Transplant Preservationist (CTP) required within 24 months of hire.
Qualifications
The Surgical Recovery Specialist must have an advanced degree of anatomical knowledge, skills and technical expertise in surgical assisting and gain the ability to assist the organ recovery surgeon in the removal of deceased donor organs for transplantation. Requires completion of a Surgical Technologist, ER Technologist, or EMT programs. Registered Nurses with OR experience or individuals with previous Organ Preservation experience will also be considered. Pay
Employment is contingent upon successfully passing drug screening and background check, including verification with the Social Security Administration, criminal records review, DMV check, and the Office of Inspector General.
Schedule
This position works a rotating schedule with 24 hours on, then 72 hours off.
