Surgical Lab Assistant - Temporary Part Time (16-24 hours/week) - Novi

General Summary

Temporary Position from June until October
Location: Henry Ford Providence Novi Hospital
Shift: 16-24 hours per week / 8am - 4:30pm / Likely Tues, Wed, Fri - No weekends

Responsibilities

• Provide technical assistance to faculty as needed to ensure procedural requirements are met.
• Lead the professional handling of specimens, including anatomical positioning and surgical draping.
• Maintain rigorous safety and hygiene standards by ensuring the facility, workstations, and equipment are cleaned and sanitized according to protocol.
• Oversee the surgical instrument inventory, including the cleaning and organized storage of all tools.
• Setup and breakdown lab stations, ensuring that they are ready for use and items are disposed of appropriately.

Qualifications

• Completion of college-level coursework in Biology or Anatomy is preferred.
• Specialized training or experience in Surgical Technology or Laboratory Sciences is preferred.
• Must demonstrate a respectful and dignified approach to working with cadaveric tissue.

Experience

• Required: Prior customer service experience.
• PREFERRED: Prior experience in a laboratory or clinical setting; familiarity with the Operating Room environment or surgical instrumentation.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift and move equipment or specimens (up to 50 lbs. with assistance).
• Ability to stand for extended periods and wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
