About the role

Surgical First Assistants at Saint Thomas Surgicare are integral members of the surgical team, responsible for ensuring the smooth execution of procedures under the guidance of experienced surgeons. This position offers a flexible schedule, with no weekends, call, or holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Assist surgeons during surgical procedures.
  • Arrange and hand over surgical instruments and supplies.
  • Hold open incisions and assist in closing surgical wounds.
  • Ensure sterile technique and maintain a safe environment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Completion of a Surgical Technician Program.
  • NBSTSA Surgical First Assistant Certification required.
  • Two years of Certified Surgical First Assistant experience in multiple specialties or an equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred.
  • Able to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • General familiarity with medical terminology as it pertains to anatomy and surgical procedures in an operating room.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $50,000 - $70,000 annually.

Schedule

The schedule for this position is PRN (Per Request Not Required), meaning availability can be arranged based on patient demand and surgeon schedules.
