Surgical Equipment Repair Specialist
About the role
The Instrumentation Surgical Equipment Technician I plays a crucial role in ensuring that surgical medical equipment is in optimal working condition. This position requires a combination of technical skills and mechanical aptitude to repair and maintain various surgical instruments and equipment.
Responsibilities
- Inspect, evaluate, and test equipment to identify issues and necessary repairs.
- Disassemble and reassemble equipment and instruments as needed, including the replacement of defective parts.
- Document all services and testing performed, including the parts used.
- Maintain the work area in a clean and organized manner, adhering to Visual Work Place (VWP) standards.
- Handle timecard and time off entry, reviewing and submitting as necessary.
- Perform other tasks as assigned or needed.
Requirements
- A high school diploma or GED.
- 1-2 years of experience with repairs.
- The ability to sit, stand, lift, bend, and stoop frequently.
- The ability to lift and carry up to 20 lbs.
- The ability to use computer devices and systems as needed.
- The ability to use various tools and equipment, including grinding wheels, soldering irons, sand blasters, Dremel style tools, torches, microscopes, small precision hand tools, magnification tools, tweezers, micro screwdrivers, digital calipers, and test equipment requiring hand-eye coordination.
- Flexibility in work schedule to meet department needs.
- The ability to handle and assemble small parts.
- The ability to repair identified basic equipment models and maintain modality/department standards.
