Surgical Credentialed Veterinary Technician

About the role

We're seeking an experienced Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) with a strong surgical background to join our growing team at Animal Hospital of Shawnee Hills. This position offers a $500 sign-on bonus and opportunities to utilize and expand your surgical and anesthesia expertise.

Responsibilities

• Assist in high-volume surgical environments
• Monitor anesthesia and assist with patient recovery
• Prepare surgical instruments and maintain sterile technique
• Place IV catheters, draw blood, and collect diagnostic samples
• Perform dental prophylaxis and dental radiography
• Anticipate and address veterinarians' needs during procedures
• Communicate effectively with clients and educate them on patient care

Requirements

• Active RVT credentials
• Proven surgical experience
• Strong knowledge of anesthesia monitoring and patient recovery protocols
• Proficiency with surgical preparation, sterile technique, and instrument handling
• Experience placing IV catheters, drawing blood, and collecting diagnostic samples
• Experience with dental prophylaxis and dental radiography
• Excellent communication skills and a commitment to client education
• A positive, collaborative approach to teamwork

Qualifications

• Fear Free® certification or experience utilizing Fear Free® handling techniques
• Experience in an AAHA-accredited practice
• Feline Friendly Practice® experience
• A passion for mentoring and supporting fellow team members
