Surgical Assistant at Germantown Oral & Facial Surgery

Responsibilities

• Prepare and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment before, during, and after procedures.
• Escort each patient to the operatory in a timely manner.
• Help patients feel comfortable before, during and after treatment.
• Auxiliary in preparing patients for surgery and help monitor vital signs and anesthesia levels.
• Confirm with medical history with patient and make any necessary changes needed.
• Confirm the patient is aware of and educated on the treatment being performed.
• Auxiliary in passing instruments, suctioning, and providing any necessary materials during surgery.
• Accurately document patient information and surgical details into the patient’s electronic health record (EHR).
• Auxiliary in providing post-operative care instructions and ensuring proper follow-up.
• Stock all operatories and designated sterilization area(s).

Requirements

• Maintain certification and/or license renewals as required by the state.
• Excel in forward thinking to anticipate the needs of the patient and our dental team.
• May be required to travel between office locations.
• Be insurable by the company’s insurance.
• CPR Certified.
• Dexterity and manual skills required for handling surgical instruments and assisting with procedures.
