Surgery Technologist

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and organize operating rooms for scheduled foot and ankle procedures.
- Verify availability and functionality of surgical instruments, implants, supplies, and equipment.
- Sterilize instruments and maintain sterile processing standards.
- Review surgical schedules and anticipate surgeon and patient needs.
- Absorb patient positioning, preparation, and draping.
Intraoperative Duties
- Maintain a sterile field throughout surgical procedures.
- Pass instruments, sutures, and supplies to the surgeon and surgical team efficiently and accurately.
- Absorb foot and ankle surgical procedures, including reconstructive, trauma, and elective surgeries.
- Handle specimens according to established protocols.
- Monitor surgical supplies and communicate additional needs during procedures.
- Support patient safety initiatives and infection prevention practices.
Postoperative Duties
- Assist with dressing application and patient transfer as directed.
- Clean and restock operating rooms following procedures.
- Ensure proper decontamination and sterilization of instruments.
- Document instrument counts and procedural information as required.
- Report equipment malfunctions or supply shortages promptly.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
- Current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential preferred or required based on state regulations.
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
- Knowledge of aseptic technique, surgical instrumentation, and operating room procedures.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced surgical environment.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Travel required
Preferred
- Previous experience in podiatry, orthopedic, or foot and ankle surgery.
- Familiarity with surgical implants, fixation devices, and fluoroscopy procedures.
- Experience in ambulatory surgery centers or outpatient surgical settings.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and move equipment and supplies up to 25 pounds.
- Manual dexterity required for handling surgical instruments and supplies.
- Ability to respond quickly during surgical procedures and emergencies.
