Surgery Specialist - Pre-Clinical Research

About the Role

Harvard Bioscience is a leading developer, manufacturer, and seller of technologies, products, and services that enable fundamental research, discovery, and pre-clinical testing for drug development. Our customers include renowned academic institutions, government laboratories, and the world's leading pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and contract research organizations. This role involves performing surgical procedures using DSI implantable telemetry devices, contributing to customer support and revenue-generating projects, and participating in surgical training and new product development.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to Surgical Services Revenue:
  • Perform simple small animal surgeries
  • Provide in-house hands-on surgical training for DSI customers
  • Perform surgeries for pre-implanted small animals at DSI for shipment to the customer
• Provide surgical support to customers and sales representatives
• Provide laboratory support of animals:
  • Monitor the health and welfare of all animals following applicable guidelines for care and use of laboratory animals, including shared weekend and holiday health checks
  • Perform peri- and post-operative animal care duties
• Contribute to maintaining the laboratory and shared animal husbandry, including weekends and holidays
• Improve Surgical Service internal documentation
• Maintain internal records and compliance documentation

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent, and a minimum of three years of relevant experience with small laboratory animals
• Willing to obtain certification (SRT or SRS) through the Academy of Surgical Research

Bonus Skills and Experience: Surgical experience with DSI telemetry.
