About the role

Deliver excellent patient-centered care by ensuring the financial and surgical communication process is complete for patients having surgical procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule surgery and perform pre-surgery patient education regarding preparation for surgery; communicate with all associated facilities.
  • Schedule and coordinate pre-op appointments with the patient and/or the patient’s caregiver.
  • Check every patient chart for insurance benefits, prepare a cost summary, and counsel patients regarding finances.
  • Counsel patients for Physician Fee and Eye Surgery Center.
  • Follow up on and collect surgery payments.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Ability to work weekends when applicable.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent is required.
  • Experience in financial counseling is preferred.
  • Experience working with insurance is preferred.

Skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Physical Requirements

This role requires a variety of physical activities to effectively perform essential job functions:

  • Frequent walking (75%), sitting (50%), and standing (50%).
  • Regular bending, stooping, and reaching (25–50%).
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull items up to 25 lbs.
  • Strong fine motor skills and full use of hands for constant grasping, writing/typing, and use of technology.
  • Visual and auditory acuity—including color, depth, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus—required 100% of the time.
  • Occasional driving or climbing may be necessary.
