Surgery Nights - Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner

Position Details

Midstate Medical Center is seeking a Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner to join their talented and enthusiastic surgery team. The successful candidate will be responsible for first-assisting in the operating room, rounding, bedside procedures and consults. APPs will work in collaboration with a number of surgeons. The service currently covers General Surgery, Robotic Surgery, Bariatric Surgery, Thoracic Surgery, with some coverage of Orthopedics, Vascular, and ENT.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine physical examinations
• Formulate medical, educational, and psychosocial plans to treat patients
• Develop plans for further evaluation of health needs, e.g., referral to other health team members or specialists
• Provide appropriate treatment for problems within the scope of the provider’s practice as designated by protocols
• Identify problems outside of their scope of practice and refer appropriately to physician

Requirements

• Licensure: Unrestricted State of Connecticut Medical License (or eligible)
• Training: Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP certified)
• RNFA certification is required for Nurse Practitioners
• Experience: 2+ years in a surgery setting (preferred)

Pay

Up to $30,000 in shift differentials on top of base pay!
