Surety Midwest - Bond Manager

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Oversees the profitability, growth, and service levels of an assigned territory by:
  • Managing the agency plant and marketing within the construction community.
  • Leading the underwriting function, including risk selection, pricing, and monitoring of business in conformity with the surety reinsurance treaty
  • Underwriting business that falls outside staff underwriters’ authority limits.
  • Contributing to the development of underwriting policies, procedures, and models, and assisting in the development of long-range goals and objectives.
  • Reviewing and approving all non-standard and/or private bond forms.
  • Traveling with underwriters to facilitate customer development.
  • Analyzing activities, costs, operations, and other data to measure progress toward territory goals.
• Assists senior surety leadership with the development and communication of vision as well as strategic and operational plans.
• Adhering to underwriting guidelines.
• Providing monthly reporting for activity of prior month.
• Conducting portfolio reviews on a quarterly basis.

Supervisory Responsibilities

• Recommends and communicates goals; assigns tasks to ensure achievement of required work.
• Develops, recommends and implements operational plans and procedures.
• Trains, coaches and leads staff.
• Prepares and/or reviews performance appraisals; conducts performance review meetings.
• May recommend and/or implement employment actions, including employment/termination, corrective action, promotions/demotions, salary changes, etc.
• Makes recommendations and/or implements employment actions, including employment/termination, corrective action, promotions/demotions, salary changes, etc.
• Serves as a contributing member or leader of project team(s), coordinating resources to ensure achievement of project goals.

Qualifications

A minimum requirement for this position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
