About the Role

Supervises, monitors, and reviews all activities for the department division. Administers established policies and procedures to ensure efficient operation. Communicates effectively with staff and management.

This role is a 'working' supervisor position within the VUH Nutrition Kitchen, focusing on ensuring the comprehensive availability of food and supplies, and the production and distribution of quality meals to achieve satisfaction for patients, staff, and visitors.

Responsibilities

  • Develops staff to their fullest potential.
  • Ensures comprehensive availability of food and supplies.
  • Ensures production and distribution of quality meals to achieve satisfaction for patients, staff, and visitors.
  • Conducts performance reviews and effectively delegates tasks.
  • Coaches subordinates on technical and interpersonal topics, as well as professional development.
  • Implements appropriate measures for attaining business results and tracks progress in meeting goals and objectives.
  • Sets day-to-day objectives for the team that directly affect department results.
  • Resolves technical and operational problems within provided guidelines.
  • Leads and supervises a unit or small department, typically without budget or hire/fire authority.

Technical Capabilities

  • FDA/USDA Regulations (Intermediate): Demonstrates mastery of FDA and/or USDA regulations in practical applications. Able to train and educate others by setting examples and providing leadership.
  • Quality Management (Novice): Participates in establishing, communicating, and monitoring standards for quality and excellence. Works on improving business processes, products, or services.
  • Operations Planning (Novice): Anticipates resource needs, sets priorities, schedules activities, and meets deadlines. Handles multiple assignments simultaneously and adapts to changes with minimal disruption.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 2 years of relevant work experience.
