About the role
Supervises and coordinates Department operations and activities on a specified shift to ensure quality patient care and optimal operation and efficiency.
Responsible for assisting the department Director and Clinical Project Manager in the management of patient care administered by other members of the Respiratory Care staff.
Aid in the development and monitoring of unit-specific systems and coordination of activities that improve the quality of patient care for each unit/floor.
Supervise and monitor the work of all Respiratory Care Practitioners providing direct patient care.
Assist the Director in evaluating Associates on a specific shift.
Provide professional Respiratory Care services to patients using components of the Department process, including: organizing, planning, directing and evaluating the functions and provisions of Respiratory Care Services to patients through effective supervision of personnel, use of equipment, medical-legal aspects of patient care, effective communication skills within and between Departments, and close coordination with the Respiratory Care Director, Assistant Director, Medical Director, and the Medical Staff, ensuring methods of compliance with JCAHO, Medicare, Medicaid conditions of participation, and other regulatory and practice standards.

Requirements
- Thorough knowledge of all phases of Respiratory Care.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to foster and facilitate effective working relationships and team building.
- Willingness to accept and manage change.
- Skilled in the use of computer systems and related software applications.
Qualifications
- One year experience in Clinical Respiratory Care plus one additional year with progressive leadership experience in all specialty units (Adult ICU, Emergency Service, and Neonatal ICU).
Skills
- Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care.
- ACLS, PALS, NRP, CPR certifications.
- Current Texas Respiratory Care License.
