Position Summary
Responsible for the supervision of the housekeeping department, ensuring maintenance of equipment and supplies and adequate staffing.
Responsibilities
- Functions as supervisor for all housekeeping personnel and directs work activities.
- Participates in and assigns all personnel in Housekeeping duties.
- Adjusts schedules to accomplish tasks, and determine performance of tasks under the supervision of the department manager.
- Participates in the hiring, termination, and evaluation of staff based on job performance.
- Schedules shifts, vacations, etc., of all department personnel, ensuring adequate coverage of areas.
- Cooks staff relief for meals, breaks, and meetings.
- Trains and orients personnel in proper procedures and techniques.
- Arranges in-service programs and other educational training for staff.
- Determines supplies needed to perform the jobs, orders and maintains supplies and equipment.
- Responsible for the laundry service, including the supplies, linens, and condition of the equipment.
- Schedules laundry process to ensure adequate supplies for all patient needs.
- Evaluates public areas and restrooms for cleanliness on a timely basis.
- Affords assistance in maintaining a safe environment for all residents which may include reporting to appropriate managerial staff equipment that is out of order, suspicion of resident abuse, mistreatment, neglect and reporting of criminal activities.
- Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards.
- Completes required education assignments annually.
- Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum Education: None specified; will accept any combination of formal education and/or prior work experience sufficient to demonstrate possession of the knowledge, skill and ability needed to perform the essential tasks of the job, typically such as would be equivalent to a high school diploma or GED. Preference may be given to individuals possessing a HS diploma or GED.
- Minimum Experience: Two (2) years of housekeeping and/or supervisory experience required.
- Licensure Requirement: Employee must have a valid Tennessee driver’s license Class D and state mandated minimum insurance coverage. Driving record must meet Covenant Health minimum standards at the date of hire and throughout employment tenure.
