Support Specialist (Recovery Support Services) - Full-Time/Part-Time Openings

The Support Specialist is responsible for directly supervising resident actions and movements, ensuring all program rules, regulations, and contracting sources are followed. The Support Specialist serves as a liaison between residents and case management staff, informally guiding and supporting residents while acting as their ongoing contact. This role maintains accountability and a positive atmosphere that promotes client motivation and change, as well as fire, housekeeping, and sanitation regulations. As needed, the Support Specialist will also complete various duties for nonresidential clients.
Responsibilities
- Monitors house activities while directly supervising resident actions and movements.
- Ensures program clients follow all program rules and regulations.
- Handles discipline of program residents in the event of major/minor program violations.
- Maintains security, safety, and sanitation of the facility in accordance with policy and any ordinances/laws, including conducting regular facility rounds.
- Conducts intakes for new residents, including obtaining background information, explaining program rules and expectations, and orienting them to the facility.
- Exercises responsible communication with clients and staff, including maintaining a daily log, recording client data, completing incident reports, making appropriate telephone contacts, maintaining client confidentiality, and other designated record-keeping tasks.
- Performs searches of the facility, residents, and their belongings as needed or scheduled.
- Maintains ethical practices in relationships with clients (PREA compliance), staff, outside individuals, and community agencies.
- Provides clients with informal guidance and support, serving as a liaison between clients and case managers while acting as the ongoing contact for clients.
- Collects urinalysis samples (same-sex clients) and performs random breath analysis tests for assigned residential and nonresidential clients.
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED.
- One year free of problematic substance use.
- 6-month requirement between any treatment services and employment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in human services or related field (preferred).
- Experience with substance use treatment, criminal justice, or related field (preferred).
- Clear and professional communication skills, both oral and written.
- Ability to relate to people from diverse backgrounds with multiple individual and systemic barriers to success.
- Leadership skills and the capability of working alone with very little supervision.
- Ability to act as a positive and supportive presence for program clients with a highly professional approach and a commitment to person-centered care.
RS EDEN requires all new hire candidates for this position to successfully undergo and pass a criminal history background check and driver record screen (DMV check).
Pay
Pay ranges from $20-$22 per hour. Overnight shifts include a $2 shift differential.
Schedule
- Primarily Hiring Full-time: Weekends and weekdays, 2nd shift.
- Part-time: Saturday and Sunday, 2nd shift (3pm-10pm).
- Part-time: Friday and Saturday, 3rd shift.
