Support Service Rep II - Payment Poster

About the role

Accurately posts payments for all physician services in a timely manner, reviews and verifies appropriate usage of modifiers and CPT-4 codes to ensure appropriate reimbursement. Demonstrates flexibility in scheduled hours to ensure all payments are posted daily and at month end. Analyzes remittances to ensure accurate reimbursement has been received and denials are posted correctly.

Responsibilities

• Calculate and post contractual allowances accurately and timely to keep the AR to a minimum
• Manage incoming and outgoing mail
• Research and answer customer questions
• Interact with FPG Physicians, Office Managers, CBO staff, and other SMH staff to review payment posting issues
• Keep abreast of and comply with all third-party regulations
• Ensure all fee schedules are kept current
• Handle all correspondence and communications in a timely manner
• Demonstrate Customer Service Recovery and adapt to changes in growth within the CBO Department

Requirements

• Two (2) years of experience working with Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial billing and collections
• Ability to analyze problems and consistently follow through to resolution
• Ability to meet and greet the public and handle difficult situations diplomatically
• Clear and distinct speaking voice
• Ability to operate an adding machine quickly and accurately by touch
• Ability to use standard office equipment
• Basic mathematical, organizational, and communication skills
• Basic knowledge of Managed Care remittance and adjustment process
• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent certificate

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or two (2) years of equivalent experience (preferred)
• Two (2) years of experience in utilizing Windows-based software applications (preferred)
• Ability to type thirty (30) words per minute for CRT and PC input (preferred)
• General knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding (preferred)
• Financial or banking experience (preferred)
