Support Route Driver

About the role

The Support Route Driver fills in on open or unassigned routes to ensure daily delivery operations run smoothly. This role requires flexibility to cover varying routes and schedules while maintaining safety, service, and delivery standards.

Schedule

Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM until route completion. 10–15 hours of overtime may be expected each week, with voluntary overtime available on weekends as needed.

Pay

Starting wage: $20.00–$24.00 per hour, based on experience. Overtime paid at time-and-a-half after 40 hours per week.

Responsibilities

• Cover open, vacant, or temporarily unassigned routes based on business needs.
• Deliver and pick up freight in a timely manner from customers and shippers.
• Inspect and report any mechanical problems with the vehicle.
• Load the truck in an organized manner to maximize space and prevent damage to packages.
• Collect payments for certain packages delivered.
• Verify the content of pickups on shipping papers.
• Notify management of any problems or discrepancies.
• Maintain professional personal appearance and vehicle cleanliness.
• Travel may be required.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• At least 21 years of age.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Valid Driver’s License with a good driving record meeting company standards.
• Ability to pass a DOT physical exam and pre-employment drug screening.
• Ability to pass a criminal background check.
• Ability to operate a manual transmission or willingness to learn.
• Ability to bend, lift, twist, climb stairs, and move freight on and off the vehicle.
• Ability to lift and move freight weighing up to 100 pounds.
• Ability to work with all types of freight, including hazardous materials, perishable food, alcohol, firearms, ammunition, and live animals.
