SUPPORT NURSE - LPN - SOUTHWOOD

Job Description

Aid in ensuring top-quality patient care by supporting nursing personnel on designated units during your assigned shifts. May be required to cover shifts as needed. Provide resident care according to the Nursing Practice Act, under the guidance of a Registered Nurse. Delegate tasks to non-licensed nursing personnel and oversee their performance. Contribute to Quality Assurance data collection and ensure infection control measures are implemented. Prepare initial nursing assessments for new admissions and assist with maintaining accurate records and assessments.

• Collect and monitor decubitus data weekly and complete integument watch assessment forms accurately.
• Collaborate with other departments to address unit and patient needs.
• Report potential performance issues to the Registered Nurse for further investigation.
• Document performance concerns and assist in the disciplinary process.
• Handle lab requests and ensure timely posting and notification of results.
• Respond to emergencies and perform CPR as necessary.
• Support other units as needed and coordinate the health care team.
• Perform other general duties as directed by the Director of Nursing.

Job Requirements

• High school graduate
• Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with a current, valid license in North Carolina
• CPR certified annually
• Participation in in-service training and staff meetings
• Ability to make informed decisions about nursing and unit issues
• Effective under pressure, problem-solving skills, and multitasking abilities
• Compliance with personnel, department, and facility policies and procedures
• Physical ability to maneuver medication and treatment carts and other nursing equipment
