Job Description

Aid in ensuring top-notch patient care by supporting nursing personnel (including charge nurse and Director of Nursing) on designated units during your assigned shifts. You may be required to cover shifts as needed. Provide resident care according to the Nursing Practice Act, under the guidance of a Registered Nurse. Delegate tasks to non-licensed nursing personnel and monitor their performance. Prepare work schedules as necessary. Contribute to Quality Assurance data collection and analysis. Manage infection control practices. Complete initial nursing assessments for new admissions. Attend Nurse Department meetings. Monitor and assess decubitus ulcers weekly. Report any potential performance issues to the RN for evaluation. Document concerns appropriately and assist in implementing corrective actions. Handle lab requests and ensure accurate documentation and communication with physicians. Respond to emergencies and perform CPR as needed. Assist with emergencies on other units and notify attending physicians of changes or illnesses. Implement order changes as directed by MDs. Perform other general duties such as doctor rounds, updating orders, verifying nursing summaries, and coordinating the health care team.

Job Requirements

  • High school graduate
  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with current, valid license in North Carolina
  • CPR certified annually
  • Participate in in-service training and staff meetings
  • Make decisions about nursing and unit issues, recognizing the potential risks to patients and staff
  • Work under pressure, solve problems, and handle various tasks
  • Comply with personnel, department, and facility policies and procedures, as well as local, state, and federal regulations
  • Maintain mobility to move medication, treatment, and other nursing equipment

Qualifications

Must have a genuine interest in geriatric nursing and be able to provide quality nursing care to patients, following doctor's orders. Must be able to work well under pressure and manage multiple tasks effectively.

Strong communication skills, ability to make decisions under pressure, and proficiency in managing patient care and documentation.
